COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HEADSET-MICROPHONE, MONAURAL, LIGHTWEIGHT,
INTRA-AURAL, UNAMPLIFIED RECEIVER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
commercial item description for all federal agencies.
The complete requirements for procuring unamplified receiver intra-aural lightweight monaural headset-microphones
described herein shall consist of this document and the issue in effect of A-A-55568.
CLASSIFICATION/PART OR IDENTIFYING NUMBER (PIN). This commercial item description (CID) specification
sheet uses a classification system, which is included in the PIN as shown in the following example (see NOTES).

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
Interface and physical dimensions. Headset-microphone supplied to this CID specification sheet shall be as specified
herein. Incorporate a non-noise-canceling and a noise-canceling configuration (see figures 1 and 2).
Alternate design and construction. See figures 1 and 2 illustrating the headset-microphone incorporating a quick-
disconnect connector.
Configurations and dimensions. Configurations and dimensions shall be as specified on figure 1.
Voice tube. The headset-microphone with non-noise-canceling shall be supplied with an adjustable acoustic voice
tube (see figure 1).
Noise-canceling microphone. The headset-microphone with noise-canceling shall be supplied with a unidirectional
microphone (see figure 1).
Quick-disconnect assembly. The headset-microphone shall be supplied with a four (4) contact quick-disconnect
connectors (see note) between the headset and the lockable/non-lockable push-to-talk switch.
NOTE: Referenced quick-disconnect is of the design of each manufacturer of each headset assembly. The intent
is to offer an alternate assembly design for the complete headset-microphone and not to be intermixed between
manufacturers.
