6.7 Environmentally preferable material. Environmentally preferable materials should be used to the
maximum extent possible to meet the requirements of this specification. Table VIII lists the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) top seventeen hazardous materials targeted for major usage
reduction. Use of these materials should be minimized or eliminated, unless needed to meet the
requirements specified herein (see section 3).

6.8 Fungus resistant materials (see 3.3.1). The contractor may refer to requirement 4 of the military
handbook MIL-HDBK-454 titled "General Guidelines for Electronic Equipment", for additional information
and guidance on fungus-resistant materials.
6.9 Changes from previous issue. The margins of this specification are marked with vertical lines to
indicate where changes from the previous issue were made. This was done as a convenience only and
the Government assumes no liability whatsoever for any inaccuracies in these notations. Bidders and
contractors are cautioned to evaluate the requirements of this document based on the entire content
irrespective of the marginal notations and relationship to the last previous issue.
